The Motorcycle Unit utilizes a Harley Davidson motorcycle, which is equipped with emergency lights, siren, traffic radar and other specialized equipment. The motorcycle’s relatively small size allows it to easily go places that car cannot. It also helps it to get to accident scenes more quickly when incidents like traffic accidents slow down access b y four-wheel vehicles. Motorcycles also consume less fuel than police cars, which saves costs for the police department.

The “Motor” unit is normally utilized for general patrol, traffic enforcement, and escort duties. Also, Motor Officers are more approachable and result in citizens discussing their problems and form better partnerships with the police. This allows for problem-solving and for the community members to improve their quality of life. Lieutenant Justin King and Sergeant Robert Randall are assigned to the Motorcycle Unit.
