The Mattapoisett Police Department would like to welcome it’s newest full-time officer. Officer Kristen Tavares began her law enforcement career as a reserve officer with the Mattapoisett Police Department in December of 2012. She served in that role until being hired by the Acushnet Police Department in 2014. Officer Tavares attended the Plymouth Police Academy 60th MPOC and was appointed full-time with the Acushnet Police Department in December 2015. In January 2017, Officer Tavares returned to the Mattapoisett Police Department becoming it’s newest full-time officer. Officer Tavares holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Regis College and a degree in Spanish from Universidad De Salamanca.
